Frequently asked questions

Where do sessions take place?

All my sessions take place within school settings. I work exclusively in schools across West Kent, including Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. I do not offer private practice in homes or other venues. This school-based approach helps children feel comfortable and reduces barriers to accessing support.

Do you involve parents in the process?

Yes, I liaise closely with parents whenever possible. I believe parental involvement strengthens the therapeutic work and helps create positive change both in school and at home. I’m happy to discuss your child’s progress and answer any questions you may have throughout the process.

What issues can counselling help with?

I support children and young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, low mood, behavioural concerns, peer relationship problems, family changes, bereavement, bullying, self-esteem issues, trauma, and school-related stress. Even when specific issues aren’t immediately apparent, this approach can support general emotional wellbeing and personal development.

What are your safeguarding credentials?

I hold an Enhanced DBS check with Children’s Barred List clearance and maintain full professional indemnity and liability insurance. As a Certified Play Therapist registered with Play Therapy UK, I adhere to their professional standards and code of ethics. All my clinical work is supervised by a qualified Clinical Supervisor, providing an additional layer of safeguarding oversight and quality assurance.

What space do you need for sessions?

I need a quiet, private room where children feel safe and won’t be interrupted or overheard. The space doesn’t need to be large – a small office, unused classroom or designated therapy room works well. Consistency is important, so ideally the same room each week. I bring my own toolkit of therapeutic materials, so minimal furniture is required – just a table, chairs and storage for equipment between sessions.
